Panda (Classic) Charmanda(er) - mania continued......

Introduction

So having been amused at everyone guessing who have bought Char' I own up, t'was me :nerner:

Obviously having just picked up today I don't really have much to say, but I am a happy bunny. I have many plottings going on in my head as to what to do with it - you'll just have to wait and see what happens in the long term, in the short term gonna pretty much leave it and enjoy panda-life for a bit.

Anyway, everyone like pics over waffling... ;)

Got a lift from Simon in exchange for a full tank of fuel (should have half left still i think lol).

Few hours and a pitstop to eat a Subway for brekkie and then.... A wild Charmander appeared :D

Was not the best weather on the drive back but Char' ran faultlessly

Stopped about halfway home for quick pitstop and to get a pic to share on facebook for all the people guessing what I had bought before it got too dark.

And finally made it home - was mildly amusing getting out the panda to move my alfa forward a touch and practically stamping a hole through the floor cause its such a light pedal compared to the panda.... I hate to think what it would be like going from panda to suzuki as that is way way way lighter pedals than even the alfa.

All 3 fit on the drive, albeit quite close together.. But the garage is empty and Char' will live in there when not being driven - just couldn't be bothered to move all the cars around after being in the car all day.

Then I will get new top mounts and shocks next month, I don't do loads of miles and pretty sure I can get the tracking near enough for a month or so until the shocks and top mounts are renewed..
IMO front shocks could really do with a replacement, have got to be about 5 years old now with those spax springs

Was looking at KYB gas shocks, seems reasonably priced but I'll have a look at bilsteins too, hadn't looked as they normally so expensive (I know, I know, you get what you pay for - and they are top quality)
Had the KYB shocks on and the lowering springs did for the fronts in a couple of years - one side had completely de-gassed when I got them off and was way softer than the other. Rears weren't great either, just put standard oil shocks on to replace them and no noticeable difference. Wouldn't get them again.

omg! ordered track rod ends, get email back saying not in stock and a refund...

ordered from elsewhere and get an email back also saying out of stock and a refund...

so, 3rd time lucky - i best not get another email saying they are not in stock or there will be blood!!!

It's red again! :worship:

OK. Now it's red again. Far from done properly properly. I've not got in all the nooks and crannies, nor done the wheels or tyres or bumpers etc etc. But on the whole it's red once more. Just managed to use paint restorer and get a layer of polish on before a 5 minute heavy rain shower. Have since cleaned glass inside and out. Certainly is miles better than it was

So, anyone know where I can get a new timing belt cover for a 750, and an airbox..? Both items on Char' are fit for purpose but aesthetically they annoy me to high heaven.. Few of the fixing points are broken on the cover and part of the airbox is splitting slightly along a seam, nothing really to worry about but if i could get shiny new parts I would smile more.

I once looked for a timing belt cover for Char' about a year or so ago since the broken one annoyed me too, short of getting one off a breaking 750 I couldn't find any :(
You can source black ones for the 1000 but green is a must for the 750

Amazon email said:
We're writing to inform you that your order 026-4898220-7076337 from KMS Parts Online has been cancelled by the seller. Please rest assured that you have not been charged for this order.

The item(s) you purchased were out of stock. Usually, our Marketplace Sellers maintain accurate inventories, but occasionally the availability of a listed item will change by the time an order is placed.

We require Sellers to keep stock shortages to a minimum. If we see that a Seller has offended repeatedly, we will take action.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.

OMFG! I'm gonna kill someone!

right well, i made a start today as I was never gonna do all of it in a day so doesn't matter that I am still waiting for a few bits.

Its mostly apart now, not taken the offside drive shaft out yet or either track rod ends, but apart from that everything I have a replacement for is off the car (had to stop to pick up the mrs from work). Disc backing plates pretty much turned to dust on touching them - not sure whether to buy replacements or just run without tbh.

Also, was looking on amazon and came across normal oil front shocks - monroe one, I like monroe stuff. They were being sold by amazon themselves for a silly low price, it did say only 1 left but more due in but they were so cheap I had to order them. Hopefully they will actually send me them and not just cancel my order and tell me they don't have them as seems to be the pattern recently. But was like £26 for 2 front shocks delivered so had to try it.

No pics, sorry.. I will get some as things go on though, i promise.

Ah nice one, ordered (y)

Not really no, but i ordered 8 cans from EuroCarParts over the bank holiday weekend with the 25% off they were doing, they do free delivery too so that was basically about £10 with the discount (y)
I did search elsewhere online and it worked out cheaper than buying in bulk from everywhere i looked. So erm, wait a week or two and I'm sure ECP will have another sale that must end soon!! They are worse than DFS lol.

Yup, they seem to email me 2 or 3 times a day with offers that must end tonight.
Shopping for a sofa soon too, hope there's a sale on.

wtf... I mean actually wtf. How is it possible that so many people have this track rod end for sale and don't actually have one!!! It's utter madness I tell thee. They are all conspiring together and laughing at me aren't they!
