I have a Fiat Ducato 2.8JTD 2006 model. Series 244. Auto Transmission

I have had the Auto Transmission selector knob replaced before, and I believe it is pretty easy. Well it just flew to pieces again and I have ordered another. Is there someone who can tell me how to replace it when it arrives?
Thanks

Well, I didn't get a reply, but when the knob arrived it looked like it was going to be simple. Inside the knob there is a white expanding collar which appears to have lugs to hold the knob onto a groove on the gearshift shaft.
I removed the boot from the bottom of the knob. Marked the shaft at the bottom with a pencil, and with the button depressed, I pulled up hard. It came away and I got a whack in the nose for my trouble. It was just a matter of pressing the button and pushing the new knob down until it clicked into place. Re-attach the boot and check the shift operation. All Good
If anyone wants to change the gear shift knob on a 244 series Ducato with Automatic transmission it's that easy. :)

Hi,
just came across your post. I have an auto 244 type (circa 2004) . Near the top of the gear lever the section were you pull it in to change gear has come loose. A few spring have come adrift. Is this part of what you replaced ?
If so I would be interested in the description/part number etc and where you managed to get the part.
Many thanks, Mike
