I brought my Stilo over to Germany with me in 2008. It was re-registered into the German system, then when I married my American husband who's with the US Army as a civilian contractor it was registered with US Army Europe. (Stay with me, here, please!)

Anyway, we're leaving for Florida in two and a half weeks so I am bringing Monty home to the UK and giving him to my brother. I have the V55 form to register it, but it asks for information from the CoC - and I've managed to misplace all of my UK and German paperwork. Haven't come across it yet whilst packing because I thought I knew what I'd done with it all. Turns out I was wrong....

So I haven't any of that information you get on your MOT certificate like particulates, weight, all that stuff, which apparently you can find on a CoC too.

It looks like without a CoC I have to do a voluntary IVA which requires having the car tested by VOSA in Aberdeen - a real drag when your brother is in the north-west Highlands and a four hour drive away on a good day.

So, my question is: does anyone happen to have a CoC? If so, where did you get it, please?

I set off on Monday morning! (I know, I know, but I only opened the DVLA package tonight to read through it as the wifie on the phone in Swansea said it was a really simple form! No need for an MOT or any of that stuff, she said.

Aye, right!

Help? Please?

The certificate is car specific You need to contact fiat they will be able to provide one although they'll probably charge for it. Tim speechley who used to do it has retired but I have emails of the new people covering that subject message me if you need them thinking about this further if the car was previously UK registered maybe you don't need this info not sure but I think they should be able to reallocate it's old reg

Yeah, that's what the lady at the DVLA told me. The V55/5 only mentions the CoC or an IVA (which costs more than the CoC!). I think - hazy memory - I had at one time the green slip of paper off the bottom of the V5C but I cannot find that anywhere.

I did find an old tax disc notification and an old insurance certificate, both of which give the original UK reg, and they have me on record as having permanently exported the blessed vehicle, so...why my brother HAS to prove it conforms is beyond me.

The V5C would, of course, prove it, but I don't have it!

I only found out that the proof of previous registration would do the trick by dint of finding INF106 via the Directgov site.

Why does something so simple have to become so complicated?!

Thank you very much indeed for your reply...maybe Swansea will be able to give me better news on Monday morning!

I'm going to ring Swansea in the morning and ask them - I'm sure that that is what she said to me in the first place, but the form sent me into a complete flat spin!

Never. Moving. Again.
