Hi I have just bought a tatty Barchetta on ebay 1996 71k mls for £790. Central locking is weird. It opens both doors and locks both doors from the passenger door but the drivers door when key inserted doesnt do a thing! Any ideas what this could be and would the new remote central locking relay perhaps be the easiest cure? Suggestions would be gratefully received!

Yep a remote relay will work so you just dont need the key £45. You could take the lock out and give it a good clean and oil up. Its more work getting the door card off then getting the lock out hehhe. A replacment lock can be found on eBay now and again if the lock on your B is shot. £50 ish

You got a B for £790 !! bargin or money pit....... only time will tell ehehhe ;)

Yes -ebay-no red key (got a blue one made as a spare), needed a new roof-carhoods direct lovely fit £300, a cambelt and new alternator (bill yet to come from my friendly local garage) dodgy locking , bonnet release has pulled through the plastic of the surround near the fuse box, and a coupple of dents. Taxed and motd though and seems to run really well-we love it so far!
I gave it a good service though-but not yet done the coolant-any ideas other than remove bottom hose swill it out a few times and replace?

Bugger!! I missed that one on ebay:( Always on the lookout for a cheap Barchetta to play with:D
The problem I am having with my remote central locking is that I cannot get the new fob that I bought off ebay to programme. I have the instructions (assuming these are correct) but it does not do what it says on the can!! So I have to use the key, problem with that is they are not the best locks in the world and because it has probably spent most of its life being opened by the remote and not the lock, said lock seizes up quite easily:(

Yeh, I've got the code that came with the car, I'm wondering if it is the correct fob, it's the small square one about 2cm square.

Hi £45 for the relay, but from where-any suggestions-my fiat dealer hasn't replied to my request to see if they can get one?
Thanks
J

Now you have confused me docorangepeel (doesnt take much!!)
I thought that the B already had remote central locking and that my fob was missing when I bought the car? The link you have shown me is for a different system?

This kit is if you have central locking but want to make it into remote central locking. Its just a remote central locking relay over the OEM relay that is fitted to the car.

Your car should already have a remote relay that works with your remote. Take a look its under the dash on the passenger side foot well. It will be a yellow box with a little cable sticking out of it. (like in the pic)

If you have no joy with your remotes, just swap it out for a new one.
The one above is the one I have on my B and it works fine.

Hi, Yep ive a similar problem the remote will open and close the drivers door only, passenger side only works with the key????

Well I am/was bidding for the yellow central locking relay on ebay but some very nice person mailed me because he had seen me bidding and offered me one for £35 cash because he had bought it for his Marea and it didnt work in that model. So, i will be picking it up on Friday. A nice saving on the price of a new one from Fiat:)

:D As long as it works:D
Spent the afternoon sandblasting and painting red the rocker cover and plug coil cover, will take a pic when i have refitted it along with the strut brace when it arrives:D

Hi folks, thanks for the help-bought the locking relay from abacus alarms and it works a treat-super-just the bonnet release and the nasty dint on the front to do!
