I went throught he carwash at my local Sainsbury's (Fosse Park, Leicester) and the bloody thing ripped my aerial off and proceeded to bitch slap my nice black paintwork with it! I know I should have taken it off before going in, but it's something I have never done before in all my years of pre-Fiat motoring. So be warned if your passing Sainbury's and the carwash is actually working for once.
Anybody else had anything ripped off?

is that the roof mounted ones? your meant ot remove them before going in to car washes.
they just unscrew
Yes it's (or was) the roof mounted one. I know I should have removed it, I sure as hell will from now on.

I used one once (that sounds terrible - it was a first, last and only due to the 'panda-eyes' it left around the rear lights!), forgot about the aerial thing but was lucky and it stayed in place. Can't use one now due to rear spoiler, jetwash or handjob all the way :D

Is that an offer? ;)

I think I could be pursuaded to drive all that way to give you a good hand job and jet wash

Might even wash your car as well if you are lucky!

nothing can beat a good wash by hand, rinsing with water, a chamois dry, then polishing up with colour magic and then another coat of polish with autoglym. yeah takes about 3 hours but gives ya peace of mind and actually cleans the car.

ill never take a car through a car wash.

Hmm...im surprised this has happened to so many people - when i first got my car, i used to use car wash all the time with my bravo, but never had any aeriel problem (yes, the roof DID get washed too :p)
Maybe its just the one i used...but will be careful now if i use one elsewhere!

 Can't beleive it was actually working

I used it once, on the old corrolla, but it got battered, scratches all over the bonnett, and it didn't even do a good job of cleaning the rest of the motor!

Would never even consider taking the Stilo through. Bit of elbow grease all the way!

hey im new,

i put my punto through a morrisons car wash the other day, then i heard something hit my roof, when i had got out my areial was bent the other way. last time i put it through 1 of them.

just a quick question, how do u take the areial off off the mk2 punto?

I used to use a car wash when i had my civic, it ruined the paintwork eventually damaging the laquer on the bonnet and left horrible swirly brush marks all over it, i'd rather see the Bravo dirty now than use one

Oh yes, and i lost my aerial too:D

yeh i once had to unscrew the aerial once the wash had started ( i was passenger in the car as it was my mums at the time) so i had to stick myself out the sunroof and unscrew it in a mad dash to avouid getting soaked. haha good times....
