I got a fiat uno 1997 petrol model engine classification
999cc
45bhp@3600rpm
Recently car got a problem and it started getting hot and consuming more coolant so the head of engine was opened and gasket was replaced. The problem is to an extent still there. I want to know that should i had to add more water to coolant every 200 kms????
Next is that the studs on which compressor is fixed is also broken and i was told that it can be fixed by some welding process . There is one more question whether the car will be ok after that. How to improve its milege and power....Any sugesstions???Is the car as good a MPFI or Erlx technologies???
Please care to mark me an email at:[email protected] as i am new to this forum i dont know about reading the threads.

Thanks,
Sumit.

Sumit tells me we need to understand your meaning of this 'compressor'...?

Tom

compressor is where the ac bets revolves. its located next to head of engine and distictvly visible when bonnet is opened. Thx for a speedy reply...

sumit ..

Welcome to the forum.

So u have exactly the same uno as I have.

My motor is giving me decent average, means round 16KMPL .one friend from banglore gets around 20KMPL, but u havent mentioned ur milage figures.

Also, Pls try to elaborate your problem...Is the engine heats more when the a/c is on ??

And I assume u r driving inside city limits (I know delhi trafic well as I used to be there every year)

Is your radiator fan works perectly ? If there is problem in A/C pipes, the pipes need to be replaced, and gas to be refilled, to get effective cooling from the A/C.

do u observe any leaks from ur cooling system ?

Reply with more points so that we can solve ur probs.

Tom,

compressor is for A/C, and is fitted on a bracket which revolves on a belt from the engine.

Thanks for clarifying that, i had no idea unos came with AC abroad and there is no hint of it in his thread.

All A/C units use a compressor! Remember that Summital is from India and English is obviously not his mother tongue. Saying that, he writes better English than the average Chav so credit to the guy (y)

1986uno45,

Well, me too from India hehe

We still follow british english , as a matter of fact.

And in my opinion, we r not so bad with our english, though we have around 40 different languages across India !

Me myself can handle 5 languages - :D
