hey, this morning the lil cento started up as normal - good
But we removed the carpet to do some work on her and my dad pressed the fuel cut off switch under the dash now it wont start any ideas guys?
cheers

When you turn on the key the fuel pump should run for about 3 to 5 seconds a very faint buzzzzz. If it does not run try the fuel cut off switch reset again.

If the cut off switch does not help check the fuses visually.

Do all the warning light behave as normal?

Keep dad away from car.

Noel

ive tried pressing the pump again nothing all the warning lights are normal we noticed that as soon as you turn it the second time the petrol needled shoots down to 0?

Does the fuel pump run or not? If it does not run it wont start, you need to hear the pump start and stop...

Did you check all the fuses?

Did you disturb anything else (wiring) when you had the carpet up?

Thanks for information about the fuel gauge, if you turn the key off and on repeatedly does the gauge work again? I'd hope this was an independent problem, intiially.

If the pump runs then you need to check to see if there is a spark from high tension lead, if there is not a spark then the engine wont start even if there is fuel in the intake.

ok so ive checked all the fuses the HT leasds and have got new spark plugs installed the car still wont start and the petrol level drops sraight to 0 when you try to turn it over could the fuel pub need changing?

If you have a jump lead take it from battery earth terminal to a large bolt on engine. If this works you need to remove all the earth bonding points and take back to bare metal cover with copperslip grease and remake.

Does the engine crank at normal speed?

Sorry did not understand what you meant by second turn of the key...

Noel
P.S. the pump primes the petrol line immediately on the 1st part of the key turn, so should start most times on the prime petrol...

What work did you do to the car?
