Car covers

Can someone advice on car covers please? Specifically, I have just bought a 'garage find' Fiat in excellent condition, and until I build a garage for it (should be done by winter), I am keeping it under a car port. If garaged, I understand that cotton, breathable fabric is best, but I was always told that cars 'sweat' under covers, so I have avoided them
There is another aspect to this because I live near the coast and the air is salt-laden, and the local opinion is that cars are best under cover but not garaged especially if used and wet.
So, what I am wanting to know is any recommendations for a cover in the above circumstances - car under a car port, with occasional ingress of rain, dust, etc.

On my camper if there’s a period that it will be laid up in storage and I’ve just cleaned it, I use a Maypole cover - it’s breathable but waterproof. Seems to do the job. Pain in the backside to fit for one person but that’s on a van, a car should be easier - Maypole do various car covers too….

Find a cotton, breathable waterproof cover
Synthetic ones put small scratches on paintwork and tend not to be breathable
