I have just bought a 2003 2.2 JTD and the alarm goes off for no reason.
Can the alarm be switched off in any way?

Hi, welcome to the forum, albeit with a problem.

I know there was a spate of people whose alarms kept going off, although that seemed to die down in recent times. I will look back on old posts for solutions.

In the interim, it is possible to lock the doors manually, just by using the keys - this keeps the alarm off. ALSO, if you look in the space between the drivers door [and not passenger as orginally typed  ] and the dashboard when car is open, there is a button! Press it in, the red alarm light on windscreen comes on, then you can lock it using remote key and ultrasonics are turned off.

Hope this helps.

Hi string
The alarm can be turned off if you have access to an examiner by going into the body computer but thats not a real solution. Make sure that the bonnet closed switch is being pressed in fully near the bonnet catch as this is a common problem and can lead to the computer thinking that the vehicle is open.I know we have had to bypass a few of these switches in the past. Not sure if it affects the texton alarm system though

Hi,

I have read on other forums that it is the interior sensors causing the problem. I think Fiat have a mod for it.

We have found that if we leave the child safety mirror down, it does set the alarm of when a car drives past.

Hi
I had a new bonnet switch fitted a couple of weeks ago that has cured my alarm fault. The switch on mine also caused the bonnet open warning to display and bleep as I started up the car and every few minutes as I drove along. The dealer requested it for a half day as the computer has to be reset.

I could not find the button that you mention, the only button thats there that I can see is the airbag passenger switch.
