Andrew,
The oil flow TO the cooler runs FROM the Filter mounting and then returns to the crankcase, you have a similar system to mine (see pic) the oil flow through the thermostat (on mine) runs straight across the top fittings (from right to left) to the far side of the cooler and then returns from the cooler across the bottom fitting (left to right) and then to the crankcase. There is an option with the thermostat I have fitted to run the oil diagonally across it, but this is mainly for the 'A' series engines. One note for you, make sure, before you run the engine for long, to 'prime' the oil system by turning it over with no plugs on the starter - otherwise you may see an extended period with no oil pressure until the system fills. My thermostat works at the same temperature and recently held the temperature at 85c after a prolonged run. If you have any questions please pm me.

Ian

That is one cool looking engine Ian. Is the tinware painted or powder coated?

Thanks Damian, it's been a bit of a trial to get it to the present state. The fan housing, lower Alternator shield and Distributor shield are all powder coated. The Thermostat housing is painted due to the modification of the same to fit the Panda head, Traffic Red (RAL colour 3020).

Ian.

I've been busy sorting final connections before firing it up - and for some unfathomable reason the throttle cable will not reach - damn
Will organise a solution tonight
All gears select - which is a huge improvement!
Nearly ready!
Engine cover is in the paint shop after being modified with the 600 louvres - it looked great - photos to come

A day of many wins
The car is now complete but for seats, engine cover and doors.
I don't have a fire extinguisher and so starting it will have to wait until next week.
Today finished:
Clutch
Handbrake
Breather
New main power supply
Fitted interior including chrome five speed gate
Halda speed pilot

Cannot wait to fire it up!

Delighted to hear that your health has improved to the point that you are able to work on your car again. Whose '5-speed gate' have you fitted? does it seem like a well-made item? What was the outcome regarding your instrument gauges? Looking forward to seeing a film of your engine running. Look after yourself.

Hiya Tom
It's a ricambi 500 and its a well made enough item
Disappointingly the second set of driveshaft gaiters have perished and I haven't even driven the blinking thing! Two sets !
I bought the fancy carbon fibre exhaust but will fit it later as one of the running mods along with the uprated master cylinder and steel brake hoses

All charged and ready to go!
Too busy today with 5 children and two pensioners!!

struggling to open up the seat subframe holes so off to work they will have to go
Does anyone know where you can get the attached image of wing mirror
its rather fun....

Was completing final checks and discovered a couple of problems
First was that throttle cable sticks....so must be linked but the second was that once started I wouldn't be able to stop it!
A wiring error means that I cannot switch off coil feed! Better get that sorted first!!!!!

As you've no doubt already worked out, it must be that the coil is being fed from permanent 12v feed instead of ignition. Glad it's getting there, I'm looking forward to pics and your first impressions of how it drives.

Good luck with the last couple of items. :)

cheers, Steve

So....coil feed sorted....Hopefully rubbing nearside wheelarch sorted....interior sorted..
Just waiting for my wife to arrive home from work because she wants to be here when I try and start it
Custom engine cover arriving Thursday along with steel hardtop, works vent and new bonnet
Some images.......

Well, what a good looking 'wee beastie'---the only thing that I can see missing are 'parallelogram wipers' I have a spare cross -bar (for a LHD car)---if you want it (from Nanni Ricambi), maybe we can do a deal re gauges?
If the fun factor is a ratio with the looks, I can't see the grin coming off your face for a long time!

Ha-ha! All the lamps are LED and so have the combined load of a pocket watch!
Rallies are definitely on the horizon
Extended arches and a few extra bits needed first

Come on Andrew you are holding us in suspense! Did you start the car up?

I would of been itching to get her started and have a sneaky spin around the block.:D
