General Can't get Punto heater unit off?

Hi all,

Just arrived at your forum as I have a MK1 Punto in the drive with the dash hanging off.

I have tried to read as much of the many Punto/heater matrix sagas as possible but can't seem to find out why I can't get my heater unit off the bulkhead.

I have removed the top 2 nuts (inside) and also the 1 nut (inside) holding the blower housing on. I have removed 3 nuts (outside) that hold the matrix in and six other nuts (outisde)that oppose the heater assembly and blower housing. I have also undone the screws that attach the linking air ducting.

I can't seem to find any other way that secures the unit but there is definitely something pretty substantial still there because it is not at all loose.

I would appreciate it if you could point me at a relevant post or if anyone could give me the benefit of their experience.

problem solved

A cup of tea and a bit of lunch gave me the strength to yank it off.

Seriously stuck to the bulkhead with glue/foam/dirt and needed quite a bit of persuasion.
