Does anyone have any idea where i could get hold of a MAP sensor for a 1.8 stilo, the only way to get it from fiat is buying a new throttle body for £400 and i really dont fancy that!

Shopforparts... Chris@Souls... ?

MAF meaning Mass Air Flow sensor, yes? Ive asked about this before and was told the 1.8 doesn't have one? I know very little so help would be appreciated!

yes, the 1.8 has a mass air flow sensor, the 1.6 has a manifold air pressure sensor.
the air flow sensors are more vulnerable than the air pressure sensors which are quite reliable.

Hello Gert..this is the 1.8 induction..I see no MAF..no I'm not lord nelson..;)

On the other hand this is the JTD and the MAF can be see very clearly..

Also this is the 2.4 and once again the MAF can be seen as clear as day..

I think we have a missing MAF so who the hells nicked it..:D

ok, after reading all of these im not actually sure what sensor im looking for, it is at the back of the throttle body, behind where the air intake is, and has something sticking into the air intake with two filament kind things like in a light bulb and one of them has gone.
Anyone know what sensor im talking about ?

I stand to be shot down in flames but I believe youre talking about the MAP sensor.

After about two weeks of searching I might be in luck, started going back through local scrappy's and theyv'e had a 2006 1.8 stilo in the last few days so a half day at work is called for and im going up there this afternoon in the hope the part matches, they won't break the part up so will have to buy the whole throttle body not sure how much it will be yet but bound to be less than Fiat, will post later with my results.

i just checked the Elearn cd to be sure - the 1.8 engine has a throttle body with a built-in MAF sensor (with a heated wire) placed in a separate bypass channel inside the throttle body.
I understand that Fiat wants to sell a complete throttle body but i can't imagine this part wouldn't be available separately as it will be produced by an independant parts supplier.
Try to find any supplier name or part number on the sensor body and use Google to find more information about it.
Good luck!

And thats where the confusion arises..I have worked on two 1.8's and knew there wasnt a maf in the intake but also looking at elearn I found it as you say in the throttle body..so I learned something new today..(y)

Now whether or not the part is available separate to the throttle body then that is another question..possibly the best kind of place to look for one would be a place that remanufacturers the throttle bodies for cars..IE..reconditioned units..

I got a throttle body from the local scrap yard, fitted it and problems solved, all fixed for £50 rather than £400 like fiat wanted

Well done that Man..(y) I sent an email to someone I know about getting your sensor rewired but they didnt even have the bloomin decency to reply to my mail..:( how rude is that..

Anyway now you have done it would it be possible for you to take some pics of the old throttle body and where the sensor is located..for future reference you see..

Yep I'm an info seeking whore..

Now you have the old unit off does it have a manufacturer
and part code stamped or moulded in the plastic if so
any chance you could post the codes. May help us finding
an alternative part without having to having to buy the
whole lot off fiat.
