Technical cannot get it into gear

hi all, just rejoined the forum after along time away
mrs just took my car for a MOT, (it passed), but the guy said the clutch was U/S,he drove her round the block and showed her he could not get it into gear, she drove the car home stopped to pick up children, and then she could not get it into gear,
we have never had is trouble before we took it for MOT,(last week i was driving car when we were on hols in devon no probelm)
is there anything the garage could have done for this to happen
or was it just a coincidence
any please

mrs has been out in car no probelms, the only differents she can think of is

she left the garage the spare key, we never use this key
she went out in the car with the normal key
do the keys/ign have a gearbox lock out on them ??

Nope.. Maybe the clutch needs bleeding or there might be a leak on the slave cylinder. This could be causing the clutch to fail to de-couple fully. Have the slave cylinder checked for leaks first - then if it's not leaking have the clutch bled.

Maybe she's not using the clutch..... *CRUNCH*

took it out myself, stop at junction and could not get it back in gear,
stopped engine, dipped clutch put i gear, then started engine, drove off as normal
just bleed clutch mrs taken car to shops its been ok
hope bleeding it has sorted problem
