Well this happened after I went over a hump back bridge a bit too quickly! Can it be welded or do I need a new manifold? Many thanks for any input!

oh wow...... thats..... somewhat erm yea impressive of a task

It looks like a clean break as well.... very odd....

anyway
As long as there is material there, i'd seriously get it done based on quotes

As a new cat is about £100 on ebay
So if the quotes are like close to that, then give it up

One thing i'd seriously do is get that lambda wire disconnected - its been strained badly and risk causing wiring issues

I'd be inclined to say - get some "alignment" marks made, with it in situe, to make sure when welded it's roughly right

Start with some tipex line so you can get it out - then make some sort of chiesel or punch marks to help align once its all been cleaned up to create a decent weld

Mine cracked on my old punto where yours has broken, I welded it up fine worked a treat

:yeahthat:

Real point is that it can't be welded in situ, so it only has a chance of it being financially viable is if you take it off and clean it up and put it on yourself.

I'd TIG it up for £30 if you bring the thing (with witness marks!) to Liverpool.

i paid £20 notes on my manicat to have a crack and 2 drilled holes filled

I did the drop myself - its **** easy :)
As i said - make some marks of how it'd like up comfortably before removing otherwise it'll be a pig to get right after

a lil tip
Flange bolts - then lambda wires first
Then tackle the 8 studded nuts, leaving 2 on finger tight so it doesn't drop on the floor suddenly

You'll need to jack 1 side of the car up to get it from the floor of the car

Cheers for the suggestions. I removed it and got a welder to sort it out for £45. It wasn't actually a clean break and it did lock into the right position so it didn't need marking. It's now running fine, but the engine management light is on constantly. I did start the engine briefly with no manifold and the light came on then. Now I've got it repaired the lights still on. I have connected both the sensors before and after the cat. Is there just an error code that needs resetting or have I screwed something up?
