Most cars switch the radio according to last status when the ignition was switched off, but I can't find how (or even if possible) to do this on my Stilo. For the sake of clarity, in case my first paragraph is unclear, if when I switch the ignition off the radio was in the off position, then when I next switch the ignition on I would like the radio to still be off.

Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it?

In the h/unit settings there are options for.....................................
If the h/u is on with the ignition on then when you switch the ignition off and then back on the h/u will boot up
if you turn the hu off by using the on/off switch, it will not boot up when you turn the ignition back on.
Auto shut down [in settings] the h/u will stay on for a time limit which is set in mins.
That's all the settings there are

Thanks Luigi. The settings you describe are exactly what I would like, but currently even if I switch off at the head unit before switching off the ignition, the radio still boots when I next turn the ignition on.

I have the operating manual for the radio (downloaded from the internet) but can't find any reference to the settings you mention. Do you have any more details on how to access the settings?

The manual I used was found on the internet and does seem to be the right one for my unit. I don't know how to differentiate between different units but my car is a 2003 Stilo, and the radio/CD unit I've just fiitted was bought second-hand but is marked 'Stilo 02', so presumably from a 2002 car, and is a genuine Fiat unit.

I have now found a solution that almost suits. I have set it so it doesn't switch automatically, but the downside is that if the radio is sitched on when I switch off the ignition then I have to manually switch off the radio too, otherwise it remains on for 20 minutes before timing out.

This is only a small inconvenience but annoys the hell out of me :bang: so if you do know a way to solve this little problem then I would be very grateful. (y)

I'M BAFFLED................
MINE GOES OFF WITH THE KEY, AND BOOTS UP WITH THE KEY
MAN OVERIDE BY JUST PUSHING ON/OFF BUTTON ON H/U(y)

Thanks Luigi. I will have to live with it until I have cause to take it in for something else. It's obviously nothing major, just a minor inconvenience. Thanks for trying to help.(y)

I forgot to add earlier, I did manange to find the settings you mentioned in an earlier post simply by holding the 'menu' button for a couple of seconds instead of a quick push. This takes me to a second set of options which are the ones you mentioned (I should have read the manual more carefully). Still didn't fix my niggle, but never mind :(
