as title says, as i never know whether to believe people who work at halfords; can i run a sub with an amp from the standard radio in bravos?

i dont want to lose the radio unit, and have an aftermarket cd player there without the factory lines of the standard one there.

cheers,
Rhys

you can but its hard, as there is no pre-out to run to the amp, you will have to cut and splice the wires at the ISO connector and run them onto the Hi-input of the amp, so the bass will not be brilliant and its a lot of work, you might aswell get a new HU if you want to run a sub as the sound quality of the bravo HU leaves a lot to be desired

i could try that and see how it is, but if its awful i will think about the HU, do you or anyone have any pics of aftermarket ones mounted in bravos?

i dont know if it looks out of place with the dash looking "complete" with the standard one...

it is a lot of work and trial and error to do what i suggested, and you are using a high frequency output, so it wont sound very good

personally i dont think it ruins the dash

you've persuaded me with that pic, i like it. i will just need to look for a dark colour, although i do like the silver.

yeah thats alright lozz, im thinking about it for the power and stuff, but its all extra money!

i'll be waiting for now, but good to keep in mind. I'll keep looking.

Runing an amp with the original HU is possible, but it depends on whitch radio is in. The H2 model (with the biggest number of buttons) has the line out, so it shouldn't be such a big problem. With the lower models you would have to run the amplified signal from HU to the amp, which has to support hi-power line in.

being the 96 model, i'd have thought its the one without the pre-out then?

heres a pic, not sure...

Check the maintainance book U got eith the car. Find the radio and there are all the details U have to know. There are also information if the HU has the aux-out. If so, there shouldn't be problems fitting it with an amp.

you can, motorworld sell a speaker to phono adapter but ite a right ball ache to fit as it needs to be earthed and you'll need something like a four channel bridgable amp. this way you can run 6x9's of two channels (as you will need to use ur current rear channels to swap to phono and bridge the other two for your sub!

sorry for the short essay, but i hopre this helps
