Can i fit air con to my 1.6?

anyone know how to fit air con to a 1.6sx and roughly how much it will cost? can i fit it myself?

Don't bother mate. Have to say I only ever use it to cool the piping for about 1 min on really hot days before switching it off. Air stays pretty cool after that and just leave your roof/windows open.

As for those who will say you'll shag your fuel economy leaving the windows open it will be no worse than having the weight of the aircon system and running it anyway.

Yes you can retro fit the air conditioning, my Merc mechanic mate does them for their cars, however it is expensive at over £2,000+. I also think you will find that it seriously hinders the power of the 1.6 when the compressor kicks in. I notice it dramatically on the 2.0 and to be honest I wouldn't have it on a smaller engine car because of this. Your fuel consumption will go through the roof as well with the extra strain on the 1.6.

I only switch min off when I am blasting or about to overtake - I always extend my finger and hit the botton as I drop into third!
