Hey ppl .
Been offered a set of calipers for my car as an upgrade been told they are off a tipo 1.4 .
Do they use the 257 mm disc like the punto gt calipers or are they the same caliper as i have no idea .... :bang:

These seem to be the earlier spec calipers see the excellent FAQ lovingly prepared by Custard so no one would dream of looking at it .

I'm pretty sure these take 257mm non-vented disks, so they're not quite as good an upgrade as you might have wished.

And if they are for the 257mm non-vented disc it will add less unsprung weight, so in one way actually better than the 257vented discs as vented discs are pretty heavy compared to non-vented.

All true. If free, take them. If very cheap, take them. But consider that they'll have less feel than the later ones and that while they'll stop as well, they won't stop as well as often.............

Yeah, they look like. What you can't see without having both types back to back is that they're identical in all respects except that the GT type take much wider ventilated disks. On the ones I think you hasve, there just isn't enough room.

Tipo 1.4 are 257mm non vented discs. Those are the older style (non-ATE) calipers, but do look nice with the powder coating

They should still make a nice difference still though over the 240mm discs

Save the old front discs, if decent, for your rear conversion if/when u do it

yeah .. my dad just come round in his merea and had a look at his brakes the front are the 257 mm vented and the rear are the same as what ppl use for the rear disc cov he said i can have them when the cambelt goes !!!
He cant be arsed to spend 400 quid on belt change when he only paid 25 quid more for the car .... lol

With luck they'll be the later type, too. Certainly the ones I put on the Sei are ex Marea.
