that reads like data to me

MP3 CD files are structured by directories,
with sequential lists of all directories
containing MP3 tracks (directories and
sub-directories are all brought to the same
level), directories not containing MP3
tracks cannot be selected.
Technical data and operating conditions

The current generation of Blaupunkt players play MP3 CD's. Some of the earlier ones said 'MP3' on the fascia if they did. To burn a Cd for the car the burning session must be 'finalised' or 'mastered for use on other computers'. In Windows XP a dialogue box pops up when blank discs are inserted. Select finalise/ ize or whatever it says to that effect. Windows 7 automatically 'closes' sessions ON CD's when they are ejected, unless told otherwise. A menu pops up on insertion to ask.

The player must support MP3 files (or WMA if you use them) file playback. The current MP3 players have an option in the menu for MP3 playback track/title display. If you don't have that it may not be MP3 capable.

The files are written as native data, that is, MP3 files, not as 'audio' files, as in an audio CD.

CD's are almost dead technology for cars; they 'only' hold about 100 tracks, they scratch, they don't fit anywhere in the Grande Punto, they're bulky and overtaken by the flash player. But I keep one in the car stereo just to keep the dust out. :). Sounds OK.

I think the best upgrade for the stock player is an Aux-in lead, or failing that, one of those FM transmitters. They work most places except pirate radio-ridden London. Also the stock player in mine sounded better (unusually) than the JVC upmarket job I fitted, but have now swapped back. Blaupunkt for me!

mp3 CD's work in mine, if i copy them on my XP pc, they work, but if i copy them on my laptop, they dont... i think its either something to do with the finalising or the format it copies in..... ive had a CD with different folders (directories) and that worked fine

I have the usb socket so i use that.. or my ipod... ive installed an AUX socket from bits i had lying around (only downside is i have to have a "silent" mp3 track playing on my usb stick and it doesnt mute when i get a phonecall)
