Parked our campervan last sunday runs without any problem. Now it will not start at all. Battery is good, starter motor turns Good. All control lamps is ok, checked with my Dephi instrument no fault codes. Checked the fuel cut off sensor ok. All fuses ok. The only thing I found is that I cant hear is the fuel pump, checked with instrument and has one cable with permanent 12v No others will give anything when ignition is on or in start position
Also tried with another key

Hi Peter,

Welcome to the forum. You seem to have made some checks, so back to basics.

A diesel engine with good compression needs the following to start.

1. Cranking speed of about 150 rpm. (I have managed to start with less.)
2. A good air supply.
3. A good fuel supply.

As regards the air supply, there are reports of mice or similar getting into the air filter. It would be wise to eliminate problems with the air supply.

With the fuel supply, you say you cannot hear the pump running. On my 2006 2.8JTD the pump is controlled by the ECU via a relay in the engine bay fusebox. I expect that your 2.3JTD will be simiar.

Take care as main supply is fused at 150A.

To further test the pump circuit with ignition OFF, you could try removing the pump relay and shorting the appropriate relay socket contacts. The pump should run.

Hi Peter :)

It sounds like you have checked immobiliser function :)

How much running has it seen lately..?

If its had hours of driving it sounds electrical.. :(

Charlie

The electrical bit was also behind my suggestion to test the pump. Failure would point to wiring or ECU problem.

I had this problem, the fuel pump line had a very high resistance so I traced it back up into the cab and fitted a new piece of wire, job done.
