i have a cinq sporting 1998 for some reson me cinq seems to shreding cam belts its started sins i changed the cam belt and tenchener and water pump im now on belt number 3 after i had it fited by the fiat deeler last week and wene i was driving to work on tusday the car stoped and wodent start wene i opend the bonet to my horer the cam belt teeth are chud up i went to the deeler told them wote had hapend thay sed sory nothing we can do and refused to pic the car up now il have to fix it me self:mad:

Well, this shouldn't happen. First off, I'd write a letter of complaint to FIAT (but do use a spellchecker!).

The only thing that comes to mind as a reason is that the pulleys on cam, crank and waterpump have to have the same pitch as the belt. If any of those are wrong, then the cambelt will be history in a very short time.

Most likely culprit is the waterpump. If you have any old belts in more or less serviceable condition, you could use those to check -- failing that, out with the vernier calipers.
 
As above, there's two variants of belts / pulleys / pumps.

Fine and not so fine pitch. They get it from the engine numbers. Sometimes i forget so i buy both and fit the one that fits, taking the spare one back and getting a credit note.
