AFTER READING THE CAMBELT ISSUE I AM NOW S***ING MYSELF! I AM STILL TRYING TO SELL MY OLD ASTRA ON WHICH THE BELT SNAPPED IN TURN BENDING A COUPLE OF VALVES AND CRACKING A FEW VALVE ROCKERS IN HALF!! I MANAGED TO SORT EVERYTHING OUT ON THE ASTRA EXCEPT FOR THE VALVES!

I AM NOW DRIVING A 1.8 HLX 1998 R PLATE WITH 85K ON THE CLOCK NOW IM PRESUMING IF THERE WAS A PROBLEM IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED ALREADY???
BUT IF SOMETHING WAS TO GO WRONG THERE IS NO WAY I COULD AFFORD TO PAY FOR IT.
I AM SKINT AS IT IS AFTER HAVING TO BUY A NEW BONNET,WINDSCREEN AND SORT OUT MY SUNROOF AFTER THAT DECIDED TO POP OPEN WHEN I WAS DOING 60, BUT IF CHANGING THE BELT NOW WILL DEFINATELY SAVE ME IN THE FUTURE IT HAS GOT TO BE DONE

HAS ANYONE EVER DONE IT ON A 1.8 MK1 IS IT DIFFICULT IV GOT A HAYNES SO ILL HAVE A READ BUT ANY ADVICE MUCH APPRECIATED :)
 
when u change the cambelt change the tensioner as well.
