Technical Cam/Timing Belt

Is this true??

If your Cam/Timing Belt snaps on a UNO 1.0 Start it will not damage the valves????

As it does narmally knacker an engine!

I'm new to a Fiat Uno and I collect my car tomorrow, it's done 33,000 miles and have quite a long drive home via motorway!

Just checking really when it should be done as it may still be the original on the car???

If it is a FIRE engine, yes, it is true. These are non-interference engines, so the pistons won't hit the valves when the belt snaps.
