Just completed cambelt kit change on my fiat stilo jtd 1.9 and was running well when management light came on showing a P0340 code on my reader. This is a cam shaft position sensor circuit fault according to the codes.
Having inspected the wiring all appears ok but the sensor head is behind the camshaft pulley under cover. If a new sensor is required does this mean you have to take the belt and cam pulley off again to replace. There doesnt appear to be on the forum any guide to change this sensor any help would be appreciated. When you change the cam belt with the kit and also I changed the water pump no mention is made to change this sensorhe car now struggles to start which is a symptom of this sensor problem. Any ideas please

As far as I can recall from my Stilo Abarth 2.4V the sensor is behind the camshaft sprocket and I think the belt does have to come off along with the sprocket.

I can't be sure on this and at the moment don't have the time load the Stilo workshop manual and investigate further.

Can I ask a question please?

It is not uncommon for the sensor to be displaced or damaged by shaft/sprocket locking tools or other implements being inserted into/around what is a tight and sensitive area.

The question for you is "what/how/did you/etc" insert or otherwise use anything that could have interfered with the delicate sensor? (you don't have to publically answer. just retracing your actions and tool usage may give you additional info to if you may possibly interfered with the sensor).
