Technical cam belt

the cam belt broke on our 02 multi jtd
a garage quoted me £1500 for the repair
i got the car back home got the head sorted and loads of new bits for £800 that includes £235 the garage wanted for looking at the car and to bring it back home
all i need to do now is fit the cam belt
can anyone tell me if its direction of travel is clockwise or not ?

Sounds like a mini-disaster in my book this.

Were you aware of any need to change the belt at intervals ? Did it go when overdue, or just out of the blue?

Fair play to you for sorting yourself - I didn't pay fifteen hundred quid for my current car ( Audi -which I've owned for four and a half trouble free years but....is overdue a cam-belt change )

the belt was due for a change next time i will do at every 50k
car now starts ok but eng ctrl faulty is now on the dash display

Currently having the whole cam belt kit fitted by Gonnella in SE London.
