Hello,
I've read that it is advised to replace Cam belt on Fiat 500 at 5 years.
My car has only done 21,500 miles and is a 70 plate (2020).
I have been quoted £450 does this sound reasonable?

Assume you have a 1.2? The Hybrids don't have a cambelt. That price is about the going rate though I'd say you could leave it a couple of years given the low mileage.

Worth getting Fiat or an independent Fiat specialist to do the belt on the 1.2 as there are a couple of traps for the unwary, including a need to do a procedure called a "phonic wheel relearn" which needs particularly equipment. Some mainstream garages get caught out by this.

What is being done for £450..?

Timing Belt
Idler Bearing
WaterPump
New Coolant

Parts could be £12...could be £180

Thankyou for the advice.

I paid Fiat £460 all in inc water pump that was last year, belt was 7 years old and water pump 15yr, given how easily this simple job can go wrong I'd Always advise a genuine dealer do the job
Exactly this.

Finding a garage to change a cambelt on this engine is definitely not one of those occasions when you should be looking for the cheapest quote and buying on price.

Do a quick search and you'll find dozens of posts from folks who've had running problems after having their cambelt changed.

I'm not sure ...I just mentioned it when I was in garage but will ask for more information if I go ahead to book it in.
Going to get a quote from a couple of others first .
