as many of you know my gearbox died again last week and im desperatley trying to find a replacement box.

this time around im going for a bravo box, but cant find anything locally. so here is my request to you good people.

as and when you are next going to the scrappy can you keep an eye out for a 1.2 bravo or brava and see how much for the gearbox, the newer the car the better, so if its a 51 plate there are more pints in it for you...

cheers for the help as always guys

Hi Andy try, Metro Salvage

http://www.carspares2u.com/

Its down the road from me and they had a Brava in Y reg 2001 and i'm about 80% sure it said 80_16V on the side.

You could give them a call. Also Wimmy knows of a Fiat Breakers Yard near him.

The way your bravo mnches gearboxes i wouldn't have thought it matters. Theres something else wrong thats causing them to fail so much mate. i take it you/ a mechanic cant advise what?

you have my sypathies though. Last summer my gearbox went, and to get it removed, reconditioned, and refitted cost £700 though that did include a new clutch...

yeah for my fist it cost me 600 but i only paid fo half as the car was just out of warranty far as the other problem goes that would be my fault its happend on all my cars its just the way i drive

cheers Joske, its appreciated. will give them a call Monday and look at renting a van to get up there.

Buzz, i think its a combination of car and driver. yes its gone through more, and i am changing my driving style which isnt too sympatheitc shall we say, but i feel to that there may be another problem. i am going to fix up and sell, hence wanting to get slightly better parts rather than just wacking on a cheap box. want it to be a bit better and have little repocussions if it were to happen again.

anon & Buzz.... 600 and 700 is cheap, my first 2 were under warrenty and had £500 covered yet still paid out another 600 ontop.

anon, drop me an e-mail at [email protected] iirc if you are interested in selling and let me know what ur looking for mate

Andy have you tried contacting Reclamet and DIY Motorist?

I doubt DIY will have one but worth asking nevertheless :)

Anything I can do to help mate?

Andy,
Just had a chat with the lad who bought mine. Gearbox went on that again too. Apparantly he has put in a 1.4 bravo box and it fit! said he had to do a little jiggery pokery tho with the wires for the lift up reverse but says it runs sweet

Insy, do you have contact details for either of those mate?

Wimmy, can you find out what jiggery pokery im looking at by any chance?

thanks again
