Got my car yesterday, read the manual but still not sure what to expect:eek:

Does it only work in Eco mode if the climate control isn't turned on:confused:

In reality, I do very little town driving but I'd still like to know how to make it work:idea:

Cheers,

Eco mode has nothing to do with the Climate control although it will affect S/S 'kicking in'. Eco on or off relates to different map settings and is similar to Normal (Eco on) and Dynamic (Eco off or Sport mode) with a higher torque figure in 'Sport' mode. Get the impression that either mode does not affect economy that much in 'real life' but but Eco on makes it a more comfortable drive 'around the town'. There are a few references to it on the FF if you do a search...

This dealer must be a joker, totally unrealistic, time to hit them hard I think:devil:

Got the car back today the dealer said definatly fixed it is not they have run the car over 160 miles this week testing stop start.i rang the dealer and he said he does not no what to do to fix stop start.looks like we are going to have to put up with it.

Phoned fiat customer service they have told me take back to the dealer the car.trading standards have said it is ok for the dealer to keep the car for up to 4 weeks for them to try to fix.

Thanks robin the dealer said he has a loan car.we are not going to bother stop start is not realy important.

Not having a go at you, but this is why the dealers get away with this and are not fixing the issue,

"Its not important", but it added £xxx to the price of the car you purchased new,

Would you buy a TV and accept the remote didnt work, as its not important and the TV is fine without it.!

Problem comes when you go to sell it or trade it in, if its out of warranty and the buyer asks why the S&S is not working, going to be a way of getting your selling price knocked or losing buyers,

anyway as I say I was not having a go at you, I personally just feel that its there and should work and the dealers seem to do the best they can to fob it off as a non issue, (Which in my case a new alternator resolved).

Good luck with whatever you decide, at least you have the balance of the warranty period to have it looked at.

Hey i thought it was where you lifted your foot too high on the clutch the stop start automatically turns off??! my 500 got stolen 2 days ago :'(

Hi there,I didnt reply to this thread because i kinda started the last barney.Anyhow, i wouldnt accept whats happening. If there is a genuine fault with your motor then they need to fix it. 2 weeks is absolute rubbish. It should not take anything like that to fix.I know i had a go last time about attitudes but that was regarding a straightforward issue. 2 weeks to repair an electrical fault is not normal.I would contact fiat customer services and demand something in compensation (Extra warranty or free servicing) for loss of use of your car. I would also be asking for a nicer loan car to soften the blow.Amazing how when you are reasonable the dealer then becomes more unreasonable. Dont just pass it off

Thanks for your replies but fiat customer service has passed me back to the dealer. The dealer has said he is beat and does not want to no.the loan car is a banger fiat punto my wife is frightened to drive it this is all he can offer.the 500 brakes are acting up now aswel 2.300 miles we are thinking of trading in in August definatly not a other fiat.

At this point I'd be wanting my money back. All of it. I've read all of your posts & your car's been faulty since the day it was made. If both the supplying dealer & FIAT are both saying that after numerous unsuccessful attempts, they can't or won't fix the problem, then I'd give serious thought to rejecting the car.

You paid good money for it and absolutely do not deserve to have been treated this way.

On a 'brand new' car with 2,300 miles I wonder what was actually done to the car. If the car was given to the garage where Flashyphotos got his S/S fixed - would that dealer have resolved it ?

Originally I thought that S/S was not a make or break 'feature' but would accept that for some it could be a deciding factor. E.g. if you had a choice between a TA S/S or a A500 which are in the same ball park and you opted for the TA because of the S/S then personally I would reject the car. At this point it would appear that even if the dealer got the S/S working you're still going to get rid of it anyway. To end up in a old Punto after buying a new 500 really isn't good enough and if the dealer is strapped cash wise then it goes back to Fiat Customer service to prop things up. I would have expected a better result.

Pretty much.

The punto is the loan car.i have found a person who works in the garage where my car is in for repair he said they are not looking at it at all.the dealer is just trying to sicken me off and it is working.as for rejecting the car this is almost impossible as it has to go back to the dealer.i have tried all sorts to get this resolved fiat customer services do not care trading standards tell me one thing then change what they say when I conntact them again.we had had some prices at a other dealer not fiat we will loose money but nothing else we can do.the most annoying thing is that the dealer where we bought the 500 from we have bought in the past 3 other brand new cars fiats off him and he does not care.
