Hi,

I have a 1994 Fiat Punto, and the glove box lid has broken stoppers on both sides. The lid in my car has a lock that uses the same key as the ignition.
I'm exploring repair options and have a few questions:
  • If I buy a replacement lid with a lock, how can I transfer my existing lock cylinder to it?
  • If I get a lid without a lock, is it possible to swap only the inner part of the lid—replacing the stoppers but keeping my original lock?
The lid has a double-locking mechanism, but currently it only opens from one side. Also, I no longer have the broken stopper pieces, so I can’t try to glue them.

Has anyone here disassembled one of these glove box lids before? I don’t see any screws or clear access points.

I've attached some photos of the lid.

Thanks for your help!
Rui

a punto one, no i havent. But clearly it will come apart. I've watched a few of these on trimming videos on YT. The front will be clipped or bonded on or both - some careful prying around the edges i think.
Source a replacement, then try take yours apart and once you done that and either managed or completely destroyed it you'll know whether your confident enough to try take the new one apart and swap the lock over or not lol.

check theres not screws under them rubber stops too..
Thank you for your reply! There are no screws under de rubber stops, but I noticed a hole in the hump where the lock is, located near the pen. It might give access to some release mechanism of the lock. Need to fiddle with it a bit.

I'll post here my results for future knowledge.
