I've only had my 2010 500c a couple of days.

I'm trying to burn a CDR with mp3 files on, but both discs I have tried (one a Tesco disc burned using Windows, the other some brand I've never heard of using Image burn) cannot be read by the CD player.

Can anyone recommend a disc (cheap!) and software (preferably free!) to use?

Also, is the CD player capable of reading .m4a (AAC) files?

The CD must be a CD-R not CD+R. I have a 2013 model but I think they are the same stereos. In that case it should be mp3 or WMA NOT a mixture. No other files should be on the CD. M4A files are not supported.

If you are using windows media player.............
click the tab burn options
set to data as mp3 files are data files
Drag and drop your albums into burn list
if you have separate tracks make a folder for these and drag the folder into your burn list
make sure the burn speed is set between slow or medium for a better quality burn
also set kbs to 320
also the disc should only be CDR ''i use asda ones''
Have a go see how you get on
