My TA 4x4 is also 6 years old (and only today clocked up 12000 miles- but I do have far too many bikes and other transports-anyway back to the point) and the boot guard is still very BLACK, but I have no idea why!

I bought mine on Ebay for about £12, a very lucky find, I'd be a bit faffed off if I'd paid the £65-odd it supposedly cost from the dealer as it went grey in about 2 weeks.
Mine took a few years to go grey. Lives outside and washed occasionally… mileage 55k - no longer doing the 15000 a year it used to :)

Ah I might laquer it first then
I have them on 2 Pandas, no fading on ours. The best thing for Panda plastic and rubber parts seems to be ArmorAll Shield -wipe on and leave to dry then buff. It seems to seal, protect and aid colour retention. Really good on the window rubbers. There are more than 1 maker / supplier which may explain the different comments.. Im pleased with the ones we have and aim to fit the other two cars with them. I shall make sure i check who supplied ours I think they are both genuiine Fiat ones.

I have 'the genuine Fiat ones' -- but actually they were made here in the UK by RJM (or similar name) and packaged in Fiat wrapping.

How have they faired regarding fading? Im pretty sure mine were Fiat as well - from the instruction sheets,

I thought my 5.5 years old and 24000 miles Panda was low miles. Mind Ive used a full tank of fuel this week!

In lieu of actually driving my Panda, I am doing an experiment. The black bumper cover (entrance to the boot) has been treated to a layer of black shoe polish and buffing up, and the black panel below has been sprayed with "Back to Black"
Similarly the narrow black strip under the bonnet-- polish and the front lower grille -- "B t B"
And the results are....................................................................................................I have no idea, they pretty much look the same as when I did it a week or so ago.
What I can tell you however is that shoe polish is a hell of a sight cheaper than B t B and lasts for ever (even if I polish my shoes)
