Hi, can anyone on here help please? I need to reset/disable imobiliser on a spare BSI. This is so I can use it to help find a fault.
Does anybody know how to do it, or know anyone who can do it?
Thanks:worship:

can't be done unless you have a machine costing huge sums of money and installed in a fiat factory (not even a dealership can clear the code info from the BSI)

I also err away from discussions about removing immobaliser functions as these are key security items and it would be a bit pointless if you could easily nip online and find out how to bypass them all

I have found a dealer that can re-set a BSI, but wants amost what I paid for the car!
My problem is (have a quick look at my posts about battery going flat), I need to find a way to see if the BSI fitted is at fault. As a full circuit of the car seems unobtainable, my thoughts were to swap the BSI. If the fault persists I have to look much deeper. But lots of people tell it's the BSI. If it is, no way would I run the car without a full system. But even the local dealer can't tell if the BSI is at fault without replacing it! So it's catch 22.
Looks like I will just have to get into a BSI and work out how it does things.

the reason its so expensive is because the equipment is extremely costly and the price reflects the possible security risk.

as for getting into it to see how it work, its not a case of removing a resistor or shorting some tracks, you'd need to be able to reprogram/flash the chips on the board and you would need to know what part of the chips coding is responsible for the immobaliser

Yes, fully understand the costs. As for looking into a BSI etc, my job is all based around eproms, and codes. Just trying to find a quicker way around, that re-inventing the wheel really.:D
All the dealer seems to want to do is replace one box at a time, till it works. No diagnostic skills at all! What in my line of work is called, UBE. Up keep By Exchange. We were all made to repair all electronics to component level. I accept no dealer will have electronics engineers, but finding faults by substitution is not very skillful.

if you are checking for voltage leak rather than engine running problem then a similar bsi would confirm this, left plugged in and not turning anything on
wouldnt it
if you are into eprom im surprised you are asking basic questions about these things

having spent many years as an electronics engineer and having worked on a damn site more complicated stuff than a fiat BSI i can whole heartedly say when it comes to ICs especially the surface mount controllers you'll find in the BSI its generally a case of replace it and if it still don't work chuck the whole thing and order a new one.

multi layer boards with water damage or cracked internal tracks, ICs which require a hot air rework station if you want them to be useable again. I appreciate you might have access to the latter but if you're not well practiced its not a great idea to train on the thing that keeps your car going and there is still nothing you can do about a damaged board.

it might cost more than the car is worth to fix or replace it and if that is the case then there are places called scrap yards and websites called Gumtree/ebay

The problem is, the bl**dy BSI timer is the possible problem. It's controlled by the security coding, so it's chicken and egg.
No problem taking it to work and breaking/copying the system, just don't really want to spend the time duplicating something that someone else WILL have done. I can ident the chip, and can take it off the PCB and read/copy it. But if the dealer can do it from the CAN bus, there has to be a bit of software to do it. After all, the dealer etc only have a pc running a standard OS (Windoze) with Delphi written sub programme.
As I said, don't really want to re-invent the wheel. A full circuit of the car would be better, but more men have walked on the moon that seen one of these! I think it's all smoke and mirrors, and really it's all wired by the prince of darkness Mr Lucas:yuck:
