Hi!

I'm looking for a list of compatible ECUs for Punto mk2 and mk2b.
Anyone has such?
For example Nr. 12345678 Dashboard is compatible with 87654321 BSI, etc.

Thank you in advance!

(I have a mk2b dashboard and bsi, but the proxi align fails with unknown error. all the other functions work on the dash. I also have a 1075 steering control unit, but does not work with the motor for 6971 unit, which may be obvious, but i'm not sure. I'm doing an mk2 to mk2b conversion project.)

The mk2 and mk2b dont share alot of stuff

Dashboards aint changeable
Some ecus dont
Powersteering s
change on late mk2s for example to relay-less which wont work on the older relay system

Radios went from ignition switched to canbus, so older dont work in new

As for fuse boxes - not entirely sure

If ur going from mk2 to mk2b itd be easier todo whole lot

as ziggy says if you are going mk2 to 2b you need to change the loom behind the dash too or speedo and power steering wont work, you would also need to change the steering ecu and in most cases the motor too depending on what year the 2b loom and bsi is
cant imagine its that difficult once the dash is out

Thanks for the reply.

I have a 2002 year 1.2 16V mk2.
Changing to 2004 year 1.2 16v mk2b (ecu and bsi)

I made success with tne change so far, had to change almost every control unit (all but airbag).
Had to change the wiremap of the dash connector, not so difficult. Had to change ecu and bsi. Made a copy cut of my original remote key (new blank key with fiat-like housing) and put new remote and immo in. Changed radio to new mk2b mp3 unit. Changed steering unit to type 1075. I didn't change the motor yet.
The problem is, steering ecu gives motor fault after engine start. I have 6971 steering unit in mk2. So which motors and steering ecus may be compatible?
Also, i can't proxi align the dash as it returns unknown fault. Except for that and obvious blinking display, it works ok. which BSIs and dashboards are compatible? My dash was also produced in 2004.

You're trying to get two completely different systems to work together which although in many ways are similar, are not really compatible, as you've found you have already had to swap wiring about. The reason you can't proxi align is that a lot of these parts were just never meant to work together.

There was a huge update to all the electronics systems between the mk2 and the mk2b,

Again, every control unit is now from an mk2B. (Only the airbag unit remains from the mk2, but that's not on the can network, as far as I know.) The dash works, engine runs, etc., everything seems to work, but the steering with the mk2 steering motor and I can't do the proxi, the dash shows EOL Failed. Everything from the mk2b now.<br />
Thanks for the list of compatible units, if anyone have it.

I don't think there is such a thing as a list of compatible units. Even fiat will have made the car and then therefore their computers will specify a part number for a specific car and no show what is interchangeable.

Clearly not everything is from the mk2b, the steering ecu clearly isn't and the airbag unit is on the can network, also as I stated before the whole electrical system got updated which often means new wiring looms, just because the plugs fit doesn't mean everything is wired the same.

Are you sure, that the airbag unit is on the can network? According to the available pinouts, it is communicating on K-Line. You can't connect to it on can bus with multiecuscan, only on K-Line.

Could someone please post a screenshot from Multiecuscan, connected to a Punto mk2B's airbag unit, info screen, preferably a 2 bag version?
Thank you!

Also, I'm looking for a list of compatible mk2b units, as for example a dash from a hgt may not proxi align properly with a bsi of a 1.2. The units I have are from mk2b, I'm just not sure if they are all compatible, or the dash is faulty, or I have to insert an EOL somewhere at the dash to the CAN bus.
