Technical broken windscreen wipers

the driver side wiper works but the passenger side wiper does not! Has anyone had this problem or know what the likely cause/solution is? Thanks

I think they have a linkage which joins the two together. Maybe this has broken?

my girlfriends x reg sporting developed the exact same problem 2 weeks ago. if you open the bonnet you can see the wiper linkage under the wipers, you can pop the wiper back onto the linkage but it will come out again and again, i tried :bang: i havent figured out how its supposed to stay on yet, i guess a circlip or something similar but there is no groove where a clip would go. i couldn't find any evidence of a broken clip anywhere. i'm puzzled by it, but i'm going to check on a punto in a scrapyard very soon to see what the story is and i'll let you know. dont go too fast with it broken, the passenger side wiper can catch the wind and fling itself across the windscreen, gives you a bit of a shock could cause accidents.

i dont belive there is any clips the prob is that the fiat linkage is rubber joints wich ware down and eventually one joint will pop open. normally its the drivers side linkage and is a very very comon fault on mk2 punto. the motor comes as part of the linkage. you can get a whole new linkage and motor of same spec for about £65 from shop4parts.com or there is an uprate linkage to wich you attach your existing motor that is £80ish https://www.fiatforum.com/showthread.php?t=29022

think also that some people have fixed there witha coin not sure how though lol

Had the same trouble with both sides of my wifes mk2 punto, I fixed it by using a petrol pipe clamp - like a small jubilee clamp. there is just enough of the shaft showing to get one to hold. Has been running for about a year now without problems

may as well get the updated one, i have it and its much smoother than standard and it comes with a set of quality wipers as well

ah rubber. that explains a lot, anything with rubber is bound to fail, especially on a moving part. i think i'm going to drill a hole through the centre of the joint then put a nut and bolt through with big washers to keep it on. lets see it pop off then! might as well do both wipers, if i do one the other will break the next day. fix it again tomorrow, well not this time fiat, my wiper mod will outlast the car.

its easy to fix! i forced the wiper linkage onto the wiper arm so hard that the ball joint popped and it went on further than its supposed to. i used 5 step adjustable plumber's pliers and they did the job perfect. now i cant get it back off so i guess its staying on this time. still have the wiper judder that no amount of grease can fix but thats puntos for ya

Not the grease that only causes the problems,you have to bend back the 2 contacts or your just wasting your time.

yeah the juder is caused by the motor. you have to clean it out and re grease it with correct greas and some people have had to bend contacts as guy above siad.

the linkage on mine fell apart also, i drilled and pinned the shaft (2mm carbide drill, anda split pin), and have never had a problem. one day i will get round to having one of the modded linkages, as it is far better engineered, but i never seem to get round to it..........
