Hi Guys,

Due to the cold icy weather and also my own stupidicy I have broke my windscreen wipers on the front of my 2005 Panda 1.2 Dynamic.:bang:

The motor still works and both move however the passenger side wiper arm moves easily by hand and doesnt sit at the right position when not in use. Also I have noticed the drivers side wiper juddering and not really clearing the water.

I would imagine something has maybe come loose or maybe a broken clip around the linkage.

Does anyone know how to remove the scuttle panel? As I remove the 3 screws but it was still reluctant to come off. Do I need to remove the wiper arms or will there be enough room? Any help would be apperciated as I dont want to take it to a garage.:worship:

Thanks guys and please take this as a warning to ensure your wipers & windscreen are clear from ice before use.

2 part answer.

There is a nut holding the wiper arm in place, which has come loose (it's designed to 'give' if the blades get stuck as a protection feature, and tightens the arm down onto a tapered fitting). There is a domed black plastic cover over the nut, which you can pry off using a small screwdriver. Position the wiper in the correct 'parked' position (there's actually a small 'dot' in the black area at the base of the screen to show where the correct place is!), and tighten the nut -- 11mm I think. Put the cover back and yer sorted.

Judder: in cold weather, it may be simply because the rubber of the blade is too cold, so not flexing. Also, the various arched bits of metal along the wiper tend to freeze up: squeeze the rubber bit towards the 'coat hanger' shaped bit a few times to free the pivots. If it judders all the time, then there's a fix I described on this forum somewhere -- I'll find the link

[later: cure for wiper judder is here: https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/145337-juddering-wipers.html?p=1527124]

Cheers for the response.
I have managed to remove the scuttle panel by removing the 3 screws and removing the wiper blades arms (13mm). Then I had slide the scuttle panel down and pull the bottom out. but there was white clips holding the top of the scuttle and managed to break one.

What happened was the wiper linkage has broken where the passenger wiper connects. The joint is made from plastic and obviously was the weak point of the assemebly.

To replace I need to change the linkage which Fiat sell seperatly but at the cost of £79 plus 1hrs labour (approx £160). Will be looking for 2nd hand unit.

A bit of an expensive mistake to make.

sorry not £160 an hour labour.
£160 for Fiat to do the job including parts & labour.
Any ideas where one could get the part from??? Prefer to get hold of a new one but not prepared to pay Fiat £80
I have been looking on ebay but may not have much look.

Dan G - did you manage to find/buy the white clips holding the top of the scuttle? I have just replaced the wiper linkage arms and broken 2 of my white clips and have search on-line but not been able to find replacements.
