Is there actually a permanent fix for the M32 'box? From what I've read it's insufficient lubrication to the bearing. Mine's only done 36k miles, even if they do repair it, it'll need doing again in a few years time. The clutch lasts longer than the gearbox!

Its crap bearings, not the lubrication. Replacements are improved and uprated I believe.

No it's not down to lubrication, the bearing or bearings are inadequate for the job. There was a new upgraded bearing released in 2011 I believe. Just ring any gearbox specialist and ask them about the M32. Once the bearings been replaced it'll be fine. Mines got past the stage if just the bearing. Oops

That sounds promising, thanks guys. Hopefully they might consider repairing it before it becomes more than just bearings otherwise the warranty is going to run out and I'll be left with a big bill.

MEP, you got there just before me. Lol. Is yours ok? I'm just gonna get a scrapper from Oldham, 41,000 miles on it and have the bearings done before I fit it. Job done

I've a Dualogic, so not sure if the 6 speed is the same or not, but at 75600 miles it's seems ok, also have a 6 speed Stilo in the household (those boxes also apparently seemed to be hit or miss), we've had that from 46k on the clock and now has 118k and no issues with that also.

I'm not sure if it's a power thing? Stilo was only 1.4 Petrol, so 95bhp, and my Bravo is the 120 not 150. What power is yours? Is it 150

Indeed you will. Can I ask, is your gear lever flicking back at take off in first and then again in fifth? That's just another tell tale sign. But seriously though, keep on at fiat, they'll do it eventually I'm sure. Well they have to anyway. Good luck

Mine is 150 standard, but banging out 180 at the moment, that's where I went wrong. When I was running standard I had just the flick back and whining like Marcos, within 2 month of remap it grinds and grates like hell now. It's just a matter of time before the bearing totally collapses and Bang it'll be.

It's the one thing stopping me from remapping my Bravo, Dualogics can be temprimental as it is, wack in an over worked bearing also and it's a recipe for disaster

I was just eager to get it done before doing the research. An expensive lesson I've learnt that's for sure. Run before walking an all that.
Do you ever meet up on the outings arranged on this forum?

No idea, I'll have a look tomorrow. I've only taken it back to the dealer so far who wasn't aware of any problems with that gearbox. I did think about going to Fiat but the warranty is with the dealer so I'm guessing Fiat won't do anything.

Yep, normally go to the Eastern Italia meets :)

Tend to go to some of the larger shows also, but with another forum, and often in my Classic Panda :)

Is the car out of manufacturers warranty then? If it is you might have a job getting your dealer to do it. No harm in trying. Either way, don't do what I did. Lol.

Yes, it's a '58. The Dealer (an authorised Fiat dealer) gave a one year warranty when I bought it in January. It has got slightly noisier and more consistant but I am very tuned to it.
