General bravo engine oil??

hey for the first time im going to top up my engine oil in my 1999 fiat bravo 1.2, just wondered what the best ratio to use is and make, i was told to take my details to fiat and they will provide me with the correct oil, sounds pricey for a small job though??

10w40 semi-synthetic. the brand really doesnt matter thay all meet the same specs. some people say 15w40 is now recommended for the 1242 engine, you can use either, there's no real difference. i would use 10w40.
