Hi guys its been a while since i have been on the forum. Wee problem was wondering if anyone else had happen. I have been told my Dual Mass Flywheel is on its way out and may (will) need replacing. How much and where did you get it done if this has happened to you? Car is on 92k miles on a 59 plate so thinking it may not be worth it.
The thing is.... only you know how much you are going to keep the car for.. and if it's worth it to you.
92k is nothing. It can easily do 2-3 times that if it's cared for. As i always say a car is not an investment.. it's a money pit.. and you probably already lost most of the money you are likely to loose on this car.
The thing is that the DMF can't be checked without taking the gearbox off!.. so ... be wary of the mechanic diagnosing it.
If you need to take the gearbox off.. you might as well replace the clutch if it hasn't been done in the last 20-30k miles... so a total parts cost :
-clutch kit ~200-250€
-throwout bearing ~80€
-DMF 450-750€
-gearbox oil 2-3 liters... whatever that costs ~50€
Add to that labor costs for about 6.5hours.
If you post your VIN, i will tell you the exact part codes.. so you can find the parts and get a closer cost estimate.
