Technical Bravo accelerator problems

Hi, I have a 2010 Fiat Bravo 1.4 active that has developed a fault when accelerating. You press the accelerator pedal and the car starts to accelerate but so far in it stops accelerating, in other words the car carries on at the same speed but as much as you press the peddle nothing happens, you have to take your foot off, hit the accelerator again and then it carries on accelerating....
it's driving me mad! I can't establish any pattern to it ... it's not all the time.. cold weather hot weather... first gear or fifth... my local garage hooked it up to a diagnostic computer but no fault showed up.
Any ideas?

Brake light switch ? It can stick on, then the ECU thinks you are braking, and tells the engine not to accelerate at the same time.

Actually I had a problem a few months ago with the brake lights being permanently stuck on... they had to change the switch, although it this accelerator problem was happening before this happened and continues to do it after they've changed the switch, but thanks I'll check with the garage

Hi Paul,
I had the same problem with my 150 t-jet sport when new and the problem was the fuel limit switch, when you put your foot on the brake their is a valve which starves the amount of fuel you need and it was this which needed adjusting, hope this helps Martin.
