General Brava 1.6i 16V or 100 16V engines - any difference?

Hello all, I'm thinking of buying a Brava 1.6 petrol, and from its Wiki page on the Italian wiki (here) I see that it was fitted with two different 1.6 engines: the older is called "1.6i 16V" and apparently was fitted until 1998, the newer is called "100 16V" and seem to have been fitted from 1998 to 2002.
From the table on that Wiki page, they seem to be almost identical - same hp (103), torque 144 vs 145 respectively, slightly different consumption. Is there anything else I'm missing, or can I simply assume that their difference is so minimal that it can be safely ignored for the purposes of choosing between e.g. a 1997 and a 2000 Brava?

There are three different 1.6 engines for these cars. The 1.6 with metal intake, the 1998-2000 with plastic intake and the OBDII version which has longer stroke than the first ones (same as the stilo 1.6, 80.5x78.4 vs 86.4x67.4).

If the 2000 model is without OBDII, go for it, its the best of three in my opinion. After that I'd take the -97 and OBDII variant as the last choice.

I had the old engine on a Lancia Delta ('96) and i have a 2000 (no OBDII) on the Bravo.
In the workshop of my uncle we noticed that many parts are not interchangeable,
but the biggest difference is that the second engine has the gears longer. and it seems that consumption slightly less, in my case

Thank you both for your suggestions. Neverth, why do you say that that OBDII variant is the worst of the three? Is it because it's got a longer stroke than the other two? If so what different does that make? I'm no mechanic so know pretty much nothing about engines...

Google stilo 1.6 oil consumption.
I've head a theory that the conversion to longer stroke with short conrod caused the piston to have little bit too much force on the side of the piston/cylinderliners and left marks. Some eat oil, some dont. Wrong oil might have caused something.

Also all the OBDII crap.

I wouldn't worry too much - the chances of you finding a decent early Brava will be small and I would be surprised if the latest version ever came to the UK in any significant numbers.

Just try to find a decent car that runs well with no dashboard warning lights etc!
