Ok so i have been quoted £300 flat for a set of front coupe brembo's, a whole rear axle, hubs and handbrake assembly from an HGT, rear callipers from HGT.

At the mo i have a 1.2sx 2001.

What i want to know - is not if this is a good or bad idea? or even how much benefit i will gain! This is not my reasoning!

What i want to know is how it will all fit! The coupe brembos will need a mounting plate but what disks would i use? And for the rear - will the axle fit with my existing suspension?

Any advice would be appreciated but what i dont want is a 30 entry post on - who thinks its not/is a good idea!

Cheers all

Very little gain from the rear discs, probably not a great deel of gain from the fronts either but they will feel more progresive. Just remember the coupe has a BIG heavy engine sitting up front giving it more front end grip.

You might want to start with a stock pad at the front as the 1.2 might not get enough heat into the big vented disc to make it work properly with a fast road pad. Certainly do NOT fit fast road pads at the back, they MUST be standard pads as they really won't ever get hot enough.

One thing to think about is the brake ballance valve, take it easy when you first do the conversion as if the ballance is out you could end up going boot first off the road.

So i would use?

Coupe Disks on the front?? And will they fit my 1.2 hubs?

And just a whole HGT setup on the rear?

Pads ok i take your point - and yes i will go easy!

Re: So i would use?

No idea about the coupe discs. I know the HGT front hubs are different in some way but don't know whay way.

All you can do is suck it and see.

Ok but

Ok but you know the size of the coupe front disks and the various available for the bravo right - thickness - size etc not mounting!

Re: Ok but

The brembo brakes need an adapter plate making up to take the caliper.

Re: Ok but

For £300 and a lot less hassle and probably a better combination on a 1.2, go for some decent aftermarket front discs (red dot, EBC etc) and some decent pads. But most importantly new BRAKE FLUID!

I am nor recommending any make in particular, there are other more 1.2 experienced people than me.

Yeh i know i have had an offer for £40

But if the disks on the bravo are not of the same diametre then the outer curve on the pads and calliper is going to be wrong and i may end up blowing my pads!

I know i have to get mounts made up! But is there a pad available for the 1.2 bravo the same diametre and thickness as on the coupe - or am i going to have to work out some way to fit coupe disks (near impossible).

Im going for the good disks (if i can get em) aswell neway - and hoses and fluid!

Oh and also

Oh and also has ne1 had to change a rear axle and how diff is it! ANd will i have ne probs fitting an hgt rear axle on a 1.2 with my susspension!

Some 1 must know cuz i wouldnt be the only fool with coupe brakes on a bravo!
