Hi, I am new to the forum and some guidance on replacing the brake booster on a 2006 Grande Punto would be great. The booster is located inside the firewall with the master cylinder protruding out into the engine side and easily remove by loosening the 2 bolts. The servo has to come out from behind the brake pedal / clutch / accelerator. Is there an easier way or does all this have to come out including the plastic cover panel which conceals the booster. Is there a mountain of work to get access to the booster for removal, does the dash have to come out as well, it looks to be well buried behind the cover panel. any help and guidance would be greay

Brake assist, aso called servo-brake: common on any cars since the sixties (last century) ...

Unfortunately it IS a pita to replace on GPs ... Dashboard doesn't need to be removed but it's not far from it ! Remove the front seat, install a thick foam on the floor, prepare to live like an astronaut, get an helper and you'd be ready to start... after having red and understood the procedure in eLearn or Haynes or other source you can find !

Im 57,been a diy mechanic for 37 years..never heard that term before...but you live and learn, hopefully:D

My Scirocco has a "brake booster" (as described in the manual). Its purpose is to artificially increase (boost) the brakes pressure, thanks to the ABS pump, in case of emergency braking. They say it's done by measuring the various parameters such as delay between accelerator release and brake pedal activation; nothing similar as brake assistance ...

Thanks, figured it would be difficult to access alright, sounds like Haynes would be worth picking up

Hopefully they cover such maintenance..

£5 used copy should tell you ;)

Don't even have to search, here's what you need ...
