In anticipation of changing my brake fluid, I wanted to check I could undo and redo the brake bleed nipples.

On one caliper I undid the nipple, and tightened it again. But brake fluid is still leaking from it, and when I press the brakes it squirts out.

I can't tighten it any further, so I'm not sure what's happened to it. I'm also worried of breaking it off.

Has anyone experienced this?

Would heat help with getting it fully undone to replace with a new one?

Presumably has debris stopping the thread, BEFORE the taper seal is reached..
Would I need to fully remove it to clear debris?

The only other time I've bled brakes was my first car, a Fiat Uno, and the nipples broke off. I had to end up getting new calipers.

Potentially,

But worth putting a tube and pot on the nipole and give a couple of pumps with the nipple slack,

That Might eject any debris

Obviously keep the Fluid level correct up stream, 😉

Or you could draw air into the system.. 😕

A load of fluid already squirted out when I pressed the brake after tightening it as much as I could.

Debris can't get out but can get in. Did you clean the surface about the nipple before opening it (about 1-1½ turns to release the pressure) ?
As the brake caliper it's self is a sealed system.
If the nipple refuses to budge, bleed it from the banjo union on the caliper it's self.

Much bigger union, easier to remove/bleed sir, after you have removed all the dutirus from the area around it.

The nipple removal/replacement is easy enough, once you have removed the old one, and someone (or a brush pole) holding the brake pedal down to floor.
