Hi all,

2001 Punto 8v 1.2 - fitted remote central locking 6 months ago as per guide (highly recommended) and working great. This week noticed all indicators flash (at normal rate) when signalling Left or Right - as though hazards are on.

If signal Left or Right all indicators light up - Front, Rear, Side and timing is normal.

Hazards work fine. Central locking work fine and no other electrical items noticed (inside lights ok, head lights dip/full ok, no dash warning lights etc.)

Checked Earth and wiring on remote locking changes (dry joints, continuity ok) - does not seem to be a problem. Disconnected remote box (but still wired in place - see guide) and still problem exist.

Wondering if anyone seen this before, tips, ideas or how to check the Body Computer?

All replies much appreciated.

Daft Question?

You Didnt Put Both Brown Wires (i think it was brown for indicators)
And then 2 wires for the CL in a chocolate block?

As 1 wire from CL to Left Indicators
and 1 wire to the right indicator

As it will in thoery will be shorting out when u wanna use your indicators

Thanks for the reply Ziggy.
Not as far as I know; split the brown wire (indicator wire) into a Y shape as per guide and spliced onto the indicator wires - no connector block used. I am going to remove the indicator wires and see what difference that makes - I don't suspect the Body Computer faulty. Either way will try to hunt this one down and update with a post to the guide.

Split the indicator wire into a Y shape and then Put both Wires for the indicators off the Central locking kit onto it?

that MIGHT be the problem

When i put mine in - i attached one CL Indicator wire to left indicators and then one to the right indicator

I might be wrong, but i dont see why the cl kit is then acitivating both indicators when your signaling left or right

Its not something stupid like your hazard switch has jammed half on and half off? So as you indicate your actually activating your hazard lights instead?

The instructions sound to me like they are making a short circuit between the Left and Right indicator circuits.

Alternatively dont connect the locking kit to the indicators. You could even wire in a beeper so you get an audible locking/unlocking signal.

If I knew how to get a beeper i'd definatly Consider one too
So i knew By audio sound if car was locked or not :)

Ziggy is correct, this is what I had done. I have now separated the brown wires to the respective Left and Right indicators and all working great. Now I can signal correctly instead of having confused drivers passing round me when waiting at traffic lights!
