Could anyone please help as my stilo is driving me crazy. The central locking locks all the doors but not the boot. I have had it to bits today and the plastic switch which pushes a plunger works ok and the opening and closing of the tailgate is no problem but the mechanism will not lock the boot. I have been inside the boot and watched but nothing happens when the central locking is operated. I have tried the boot option in the menu and it doesnt matter whether this is on or off. The key will only open the boot and I cant even remember if the key should lock it or not. I have cleaned all the components but still nothing. Please help cheers.

Thanks for the replies, it is not the micro switch as you can see it actually working and all the switch does is open the boot by way of a solenoid pushing the lever which is also attached to the key housing. I agree with you MEP and I have ordered a new catch that fits into the tailgate. For anyone who has a problem opening the boot and it is the plastic switch it is relatively easy to replace as it is attached to the car by 2 bolts and 2 wiring connections, 1 that powers the switch and the other that sends the info to the dash when the boot is open.

is this the same as the estate? as mine will open on the key button for boot, but it doesnt appear to get unlocked by the normal central locking. i can press the boot handle as many times as i like and it appears to be locked still. Also before all this happened it did start to open itself as i was driving around, but i could press the lock on my drivers door panel. But now it will only open from key.
why do problems have to all come together? as i already have a thread regarding the wifes stilo. oh well.

Hi cosso my boot wont lock at all, I would be happy if it would lock and I could just open it with the key so at present it is open all the time.

Check you haven't got individual boot lock activated on your on dash system set-up (y)

Well I`ve changed the locking mechanism itself and still it wont lock. The micro switch works, Ive tried with ind boot on and off but still wont lock. I am wondering if this could be as simple as a blown fuse on the locking side of the boot, can anyone tell me which fuse I should be looking at.
cheers

Checked the fuse and it was ok so I`ve given up and just disconnected the boot switch, I will just use key (better than being unlocked all the time)

Check the sensors on the body that detect that the boot is closed. Turning them anticlockwise on mine seemed to solve the problem (for now).

They are not sensors, they are just plastic/rubber buffers to adjust the closed height of the boot/tailgate. The same buffers are used for the bonnet.

I think there's only one in the bonnet lock for cars that have the factory fitted alarm though.

I was about to say I'm not 100% if my Stilo has a switch on the bonnet catch, but iirc there is a wire going to it.

Not sure if it comes up on the dash like the doors and boot do when the bonnet is open and driving?

Just checked on ePER. It's a different part number for the bonnet lock/catch for cars with the factory fitted alarm. Only difference there can be is switch or no switch.

Here's what I just did.
I pryed (pried?) the switch out of the handle with an old creditcard.
Once the major part of the rubber is out you can pull the whole switch (carefully you'll hav only a few centmeters of very thin cable).
Then I opened up the switch itself and squirted a rather large amount of electrical contact cleaner into the microswitch and cleaned the surrounding plastic parts.
It appears to be working quite well now, but if it fails again in the near future I'll order a new switch.
I think the handle has to come off to reach the connector then.
