Okay, I know there are loads of threads on this, but none seem exactly the same and I am completely stumped...think I have to take it to a garage.

Fairly newly bought car, the key lock on the boot has never worked and the electronic opening (via key fob or inside the car) has for some reason stopped working recently (did work to some extent when we got the car, not as well as in my old Stilo though).

Hence I can't get the boot open at all via any method. Messed around with all the computer stuff (Ind. boot etc) just to double check but definitely mechanical / electrical fault. As I can't open the boot at all it's really hard to tell what might be the problem.

It's a Sporting 1.8 so the emergency boot release thing in the manual doesn't seem to apply, tried poking a screwdriver around in that hole anyway but to no joy. This is the last of the minor issues with the car that we've been fixing recently..!

Any ideas how I can at least get this open once to see if there's anything obvious wrong with it? Or time to take it to a garage??

spray wd40 in lock, try putting key in, remove, spray, keep doing this until you can get the key fully in, then spray and try turning key, mine was siezed but worked after about 20 mins of this

I did try WD40 in the lock, it did make it easier to get the key in and out but it won't budge sideways at all - feels like I'm going to break the key if I put any more pressure on it. The lock looks pretty rusty to me or like the last owners never used it. Didn't try keeping re-spraying it though.
