Boot Not Closing!

found the problem... when i lock the car theres a BEEP and another BEEP after a few secs which means theres something open... anyway tryd to start the car yesterday and it wouldnt start.. battery was dead so am think how is that possible... anyways took the back seats apart and looked in the boot from there the boot light was on... my boot isnt shuting properly that means when i do try and open it its jammed... what can i do for it to close properly?

The down part of the lock (hinge) is adjustable so adjust it (loosen 2 screws and slide up - down). Also if you have the mk2 the switch for the boot light is under the black plastic cover that covers the lock on the boot it self.

its a MK2 mate? will wd-40 work as its jammed anyways will it be that.. thats causing that.

Probably and how is it jammed ? You cant get it to open using the in car lever also ?
If you can get it to open - will post a pic of the switch for ya and where its positioned.

Hi well i put wd-40 to the locks and its opening and closing fine.. but when the boot is closed the light still stays on? what can it be? and where is it located? cheers

There is a small black plug connection behind the main plastic cover.

Sometimes, that gets wet and corrodes the contacts, hence thinking the boot is still open.

Main cause is when the dam washer pipe pops off and sprays water everywhere.

where is the main plastic cover? which one isit ?

Main plastic cover is the huge thing that you need to take off to get to the wiper motor etc.

IIRC, by the side of the motor, you'll find a small plug with 2 wires. Unplug it and see what condition the terminals are in. They normally go green when corroded.

Can either try to clean them up with some contact cleaner, or replace the plug.

You could just unplug the boot light to stop it draining battery.
