OK guys bear with me cos I know I've asked this question here and elsewhere but does anyone have the answer to this IPod connection issue:-

1) My car is a one month old A500, with Blue Tooth etc, including a USB and Aux socket built in
2) My IPod is a windows configured 80g classic
3) My music is a mixture of bought ITunes and downloaded CD's

When I plug the ipod into the car ALL I get is the screen on the IPod says "OK to disconnect" Nothing else at all.

Calls to dealer have not been replied(n)

Do I need the dongle and does it work??? Surely I can't be the only person with a Classic IPod:confused:

you don't need the dongle just make sure you have the latest B&M update which is 5.5 and fiddle with setting under media player, i'm sure you'll get it working, ipod classic(i'm guessing 5th generation) should be no different then any other ipod models.

I'm in a pretty similar boat grajo.
Bought a 2year old A500 yesterday, and neither iPhone 4 nor iPod worked with the B&M system. Having spent the majority of the day on forums found out the best option for getting them both working was just to update the software. Following the instructions from the Fiat site did this pretty easily. Now my iPhone 4 synchronizes fine, giving every function except the sms messenging, which just isn't supported. As for the iPod, this now connects, but so far has played a couple of random songs, but when I try to go into the media menu and choose either playlists, or artists or something like that I just get the message "building media library", and cannot change or choose songs. I wonder whether its just because the system can't handle my 25gb worth of music. Or maybe having the iphone connected via bluetooth confuses the system as this also has media on it? I'm not sure how to get round this, but updating the software to 5.5 I would suggest is the best place to start.
