bloody autoglass monkeys

think i could take fiat to small claims court ... why .. why did it slip out gear u damn fools , why didnt u introduce abs and power steering in early models why why ! Obviously i'd hire paul as my lawyer / barrister geezer cos he knows all the words that needs to be said in court ;)

I had Autoglass replace the screen on the Ulysse a couple of months ago and to be honest I expected it to go wrong as the screen has auto light and windscreen wiper sensors. It is also a huge heavy windscreen, so I decided to take it to the depot so that two of them could handle the screen.

Anyway three hours later and they did a perfect job, you couldn't tell it had been changed. I was pretty relieved as the car was not even 12 months old. I was so impressed I even phoned them afterwards to say how good a job they had done.

However the time before I had a company BMW and it had to be replaced twice as the first one they fitted was the wrong tint and it hadn't be properly fitted as it stuck out past the frame. They were not impressed about having to do it twice and the fitter (who was about 12) was really pissed off when he came to collect it.

I guess you get some good ones and bad ones, you shouldn't have to put up with a bad job though.

David, because it's quite a serious complaint they will probably want to handle it officially - hence the letter. Companies seem to dislike emails as they are sent out without much thinking in general.

yes but suppose i was away on business for a few weeks, if they emailed i could pick it up anywhere, if it was me i would have emailed to say reply coming by post.

Yep, they should have done "Dear David, we can't handle your problem via email so will be sending you a letter. We feel it needs to be dealt with properly blah blah Regards "autoglass monkey""

Had my windscreen and rear side window replaced by autoglass last month after some little sh*ts by my bf's house enjoyed the sound of glass smashing  Anywho, I phoned Autoglass on the sunday and was told they would come on the monday in the magical 'window' of time, he came about 2pm which was ok. I couldn't really fault the service tbh, I did stand and watch the guy doing the windscreen as I was just curious not because I didn't trust him but I suppose he would of been on best behaviour.
About the bonnet being open when they replace it  he had to open mine to unscrew and remove the wipers and the vent panel near them but the screen itself went in with it closed..
Anywho, keep emailing them and try to get that form from the "monkeys" in question.. hopefully they'll get it sorted.

I used to have a mate who worked for autoglass and he had a BMW come in to have an aftermarket sunroof fitted. Having cut the hole, etc., he went to put the window in and it fell straight through, because he had cut the hole too big.

These monkeys get worse. I now know why they dont give a copy of damage sheet to customers. Its so they can add damage after.
Recived a letter today, "The damage you are refering to in your email is clearly marked on out job inspection card, and has been signed by you, i am enclosing a copy for your refrence. You will note i have highlited the areas of concern, as well as damage on the original windscreen.

In view of this; we are confident the said damage was pre-existing, therefore not our responsibility".

This might have worked but they added on the new mark on there job card in the wrong place, on the side top of the front wing not on the bonnet where the damage is.

You mean they actually modified the card to try and cover this up???? Outrageous, and is there a mark where they said? if not, it should be pretty good proof they edited it.
no there is no mark. just emailed them this reply.
"Your REF: CS/SS/13442035

Dear Sonia Southern.

With reference to your letter dated 8 February.

I must admit it’s a very clever idea not giving customers a copy of the job inspection card so you can add stuff after they have signed it. However the new mark added to it after I signed it is not where the damage is, the damage caused at your work shop was to the bonnet not the top of the wing where this new mark has been added, there is no new or old damage to this bit of my car.
I look forward to your offer of compensation.
Dave"

I can't beleive this, what a load of crap. Get trading stanadards on it, they're a well known and widely used company. The public deserve to know what kind of cowboy operation they run.

So they altered the form but altered it incorrectly?! They can't even manage to lie without messing up?!

If you can prove that they marked the new copy, take them down trading standards avenue! (y)

The damaging was incompotence, but then altering documents to cover it up.. thats .. well I for one will never be using them and make sure that anyone I know never does either
