Blaupunkt radio in 2006 Panda turns on but is then a brick

Hi, all... I wonder if any of you can help?

The Blaupunkt radio in our 2006 Panda has decided to ignore us. It can be turned on or off, but after that ignores any buttons that you press. The display shows FM 100.0 FMA LOUD, but no attempt to retune it, find stations, use presets, switch to AM, or switch to CD has any effect.

We've had the unit out of the car for a couple of days, and nothing's changed. No code request from it, either...

the unit recognises the cars body computer.. so won't look for a code,

not had that.. but I'm sure it's been covered before in the early panda days..,
